安格尔(Dominique Ingres )于1780 年八月廿九日诞生于Montauban。他的父亲让他从事于雕刻和绘画。十七岁那年到巴黎在大卫的画院里习画（1797年）到1806年他到意大利在罗马住了十八年，他的人物形象很工整很细致，很多素描的线条尤其优美，还有一个格罗，同是大卫的弟子，为古典主义的后继者。安格尔于1867年正月八日于巴黎，仅剩格罗独立支持古典主义对抗。

Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres was born on August 29, 1780, in Montauban. His father encouraged him to pursue sculpture and painting. At the age of seventeen, he moved to Paris and studied art at the studio of Jacques-Louis David (1797). He then spent eighteen years in Italy, particularly in Rome, from 1806. Ingres was known for his meticulous and finely detailed portrayal of figures. His drawings were particularly exquisite. Another of David's students, Antoine-Jean Gros, also emerged as a successor to Neoclassicism. Ingres passed away on January 8, 1867, in Paris, and it was primarily Gros who continued to champion Neoclassicism after his death.
